As a mama, I know I shouldn't be bummed that my small child is naturally fearful and skeptical of men wearing fake beards and red velvet suits while encouraging children to sit on his lap and tell him what goodies he can bring when he breaks into their homes at night and of knocking on random strangers' doors at night and asking them to give him candy.
But I am.
I know what you mean. Even though I know my expectations can be unrealistic, I'm always bummed when holidays, parties, trips, etc. aren't full of the "Hall*mark" moments I imagine in my head.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry--it really is a mixed message that we send our kids, isn't it?? Take candy from strangers!! Don't take candy from strangers!! They must think we are nuts!
ReplyDeleteOh, that is a bummer. I guess it's good he plays it safe, but I know what you mean, I get disappointed too when things like that happen. Maybe Santa will be more fun this year.
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteI was so hopeful last year that Paul would actually sit on Santa's lap and it was a nightmare. He did fine with the trick or treating this year - except when he ran into Spiderman. The masks were freaking him out completely which means we likely won't be able to sit on Santa's lap yet again this year. I suppose there are worse things in life, but it can be disappointing.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is a bummer! :-(
