My Little Prince

My little bug is ALL boy, whatever that actually means. He loves to rough house and get dirty and all sorts of things that go.

This includes, in particular, the British Royal wedding carriage.

A few weeks back, when THE wedding was being aired very early in the morning, I was sleeping. But Little Bug was wide awake, so thanks to DVR, with a couple hour delay, Little Bug and I found ourselves getting an early start to the day by cuddling up to hours and hours of wedding coverage. I didn't actually expect him to watch, but I don't like to reward the super early wake ups with favorite shows, so I didn't feel bad having it on.

What I didn't know was that Little Bug would be riveted to the TV, clapping and singing to the wedding music and waving happily while screaming "HI" every time the camera panned to a waving princess or prince. He was especially taken by the carriage they rode in and asked me to rewind to their journey from the church to the palace over and over and OVER again.

Since then he asks to watch "carriage" at least once a day, usually the mornings. We cue up the point where they get into the carriage and let it go from there. Little Bug curls up on one of us and sucks his thumb and enjoys the heck out of that carriage ride.

It is such an unexpected and quirky love, but it is so typical of our boy. He marches to his own tune and doesn't need flashy cartoons or songs to always keep his attention. Some of his very favorite things are the most random, and his delight in the big and small things in life, as well as his passion and loyalty to the things he loves, are some of his very best qualities that I am excited to see bloom as he matures.

And who knows, maybe the Duke and Duchess will one day have a little girl and my handsome Bug will snag her and get his own fairy-tale wedding (complete with carriage).
